Stratford P/S & Matapu School tamariki present their CAPOW findings

In March this year, Stratford & Matapu tamariki got together with amazing displays for their CAPOW presentation.  Councillors, media, community groups, parents & whanau all celebrated & learn so much more about organic waste & the efforts of these 2 schools.  Thanks to their Curious Minds funding. Exploring Me in my Environment

Students at Matapu are busy creating a vision map for action in their environment.  They have lots of ideas for changing and improving their school including; decorating, planting food, planting for bees and birds and fixing up some areas they have identified around their school.

One of their major projects of late has been planning and redesigning their garden area. To make this idea reality their next step is thinking of ways to fundraise the money needed.

Welcome to Matapu School!

Massive welcome to Matapu School, who are pretty into technology already! When I visited I sat in on a robotics class run by Principal Jarad Chittendon. I learnt heaps, robots weren't something I had played with before! Their enviro leader is Miss Leesha Clark, who is also Matapu School's Year 2/3 teacher.
